Texas Press Association

www.texaspress.com

The Texas Press Association was founded in 1880. TPA and its affiliate organization, Texas Press Service, Inc., are governed by a board of directors which includes officers representing the state's five regional press associations. As of November 2005, 521 paid-circulation newspapers were published in the state - 88 dailies and 433 weeklies and semiweeklies. The 4.1 million combined circulation proves that Texans continue to rely on newspapers as their primary source of news and advertising.

TPA plays an important role as an advocate for the public's right to know in the passage of open government legislation. When First Amendment rights have been threatened, TPA has entered into lawsuits and assisted in funding the cost of related legal briefs. TPA's comprehensive service program includes:

Advertising rate information, ad sales and placement, awards contests, legal library, legislative representation, Lone Star News Service, Midwinter Conference and Trade Show, on-demand workshops and mobile computer lab, statewide classified advertising network, Summer Convention, Texas 2x2 Display Advertising Network, Texas Press Clipping Service, Texas Press Messenger, Texas Newspaper Directory, and TPA Bulletin & e-Bulletin Monthly Newsletter.
