TDNA Read to Succeed

A contest was held in September 1997 in which school children designed a Texas license plate to benefit a reading intiative.School districts throughout Texas held contests for grades k-12 and the artwork of local winners was judged by a blue ribbon committee which selected the overall winner of the contest. The statewide winner's artwork is displayed on "Read to Succeed" license plates.To find out how to support this important program and purchase a license plate visit the Read to Succeed web site.License plates are available through the Texas Department of Transportation. The license plate renewal notice sent to you when your current tag expires includes information on how to purchase these license plates. The sale of Read to Succeed plates assists reading assistance programs through the Texas Education Agency by funding the Governor's Reading Initiative. The initiative seeks to have children reading at grade level by grade three.
